This week marks the 5th anniversary of the devastating Queensland Floods of 2010-11. During this time, we remember so many amazing, caring people who voluntarily helped those affected. The outpouring of community spirit and the desire of people to help each other during the massive clean-up was overwhelming!

Over recent years Volunteering Queensland has supported nearly 200 disaster management campaigns, sourcing over 30,000 volunteers to assist with recovery efforts in disaster affected communities across Queensland. Today, we are excited to expand this service so that together we can support more Australians when it matters the most!
Our Patron His Excellency the Hon. Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland launched the inaugural Volunteering Awards in the lead up to International Volunteer Day. The awards are a chance to celebrate those who have made a positive impact in our communities. Nominations are open until 31 March 2016, with recipients announced during National Volunteer Week, 9-15 May 2016.
