Youth Participation - Links and Resources

Volunteering Queensland (VQ) is working, in partnership with the Queensland Youth Council (QYC), to develop a youth participation strategy. This strategy is in its very early planning stages but is aimed at identifying youth friendly organisations, innovative case studies and best practice models which encourage flexible and appropriate volunteer opportunities for young people.

Key strategies will include:

  • Developing a project plan for this project.
  • VQ to inform the Qld Volunteer Resource Centre Network (QVRCN) about this project and link up their managers and the regional QYC volunteering working group representatives
  • Conduct a review of literature and resources available to produce a Qld based youth friendly criteria
  • VQ to inform the QVRCN’s community organisations and networks about this project
  • Identify best practice organisations as models
  • Work with specific VRCs as pilots eg. Townsville, Sunshine Coast
  • VQ will add a ‘Youth Participation’ section to the Resources page on its website outlining the project, listing the links and other resources as they are identified / produced by team members
  • Identify a VQ staff person to be responsible for further supporting the project in coordination with the QYC volunteering working group.
