Enhancing volunteer management practice: new ideas into action
The volunteer managers network (VMN) provides an opportunity for managers and coordinators of volunteers from all sectors of the community to network, discuss current issues affecting volunteering, contribute to government policy on volunteering, hear from experts, find resources and information for improving volunteer programs.
For 2010, the VMN will focus on how different organisations are working with new types of volunteers and volunteer management. There will be an emphasis on sharing and discussing new approaches that members are currently working with.
The meeting format will provide an initial opportunity for introductions information sharing, followed by a short presentation on the topic by the facilitator. The rest of the meeting will be a workshop and discussion around the topic.
April 19 - Innovative volunteer practice (Mark Creyton)
This workshop will consider the changing nature of volunteer engagement and the possibilities it offers for new models of innovative volunteer practice. Key elements of effective innovative practice in working with volunteers will be considered using practical case studies from across a variety of sectors.June 28 - Learnings from National Volunteer Week 2010 (Mark Creyton)
National Volunteer Week (NVW) 2010 will be the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia. The week is held between May 10 and 16, with a variety of activities. This meeting will explore what are the most effective ways for recognising and valuing volunteers as well as consider learnings from the various activities held during the week.August 16 - Expanding your program: working with new and emerging groups of volunteers (Mark Creyton)
This meeting will consider new growth areas of volunteers including students, families, corporates and virtual and consider different strategies for how these groups can be most effectively recruited and retained.October TBC – Inter-generational Volunteering (Leonie Bryen)
